Two Day Conference Packages 2024

Two day course: Raising standards in fiction writing and Developing confident non-fiction writers

Presented by Pie Corbett and Jamie Thomas

What the conference will cover

This two-day course brings together both the fiction and non-fiction Talk for Writing courses in order to equip teachers with the skills to teach both aspects of writing.

Fiction Day
Presented by Jamie Thomas
The day will be packed with practical strategies for developing pupils as storytellers and writers. We will look at the link between learning model texts, drawing on quality literature and developing the craft of writing.

The day will explore how to help children deepen their understanding of what makes good writing, building up a store of patterns and writing techniques so that delegates come away with a bank of creative, practical ideas and approaches to enhance their teaching of fiction writing.

Non-fiction Day
Presented by Pie Corbett and Jamie Thomas
This training will provide a coherent system for teaching non-fiction writing using the Talk for Writing approach.

We’ll learn the importance of content, expression and structure within non-fiction writing, as well as how short-burst writing can be used to develop a young writer’s ability to manipulate their audience and write for different purposes. We’ll also explore how to use
toolkits to drive composition.

If more than one delegate booked from the same school is booked ALL bookings from that school are entitled to 10% off the cost.
