Join us for an inspiring open morning designed for school leaders, English leads and teachers who would like to gain an insight into the Talk for Writing approach in Key Stage 1.
During the morning, you will explore the core principles of Talk for Writing, including the imitation, innovation and independent application stages and gain an understanding of the teaching sequence that supports young children in becoming confident, independent writers.
You will discover how Talk for Writing is embedded throughout our Key Stage 1, seeing how high-quality texts, purposeful talk and language-rich learning experiences support children’s early writing development and foster a love of writing. The morning will include:
• An introduction to the Talk for Writing approach and teaching sequence.
• An overview of our curriculum design in Year 1 and Year 2.
• A learning walk to experience Talk for Writing in action within our language-rich Key Stage 1 classrooms.
• Opportunities to explore pupils’ books and see examples of writing across the school.
• Conversations with our pupils about how Talk for Writing has helped them develop as writers.
