Selby Community Primary is a successful school, judged as โgoodโ with outstanding features by OFSTED in October 2011. It has remained good in subsequent inspections since this date. The school is located in an extremely challenging area where it is currently ranked the 6th most deprived school in North Yorkshire.
We started our journey in 2011. It is taught systematically and successfully across the school from Nursery to Year 6. By using this approach standards at the end of each year group have improved over time. Typically, the results at the end of each year group would be above national outcomes, despite the high levels of disadvantage.
Visitors to the school comment on how well the children use vocabulary in their spoken and written work. Pupils are willing to share their work and their passion/love of writing.
